Denver, Colorado (1/22/1999) --- A Johns Manville roofing system was selected for the Novell buildings on the San Jose State University Campus. According to Construction Link Magazine, this is one of the top ten projects in California.
The 536,000 square foot project consists of five buildings. Enterprise Roofing Service, Inc., one of the largest contractors in the San Francisco Bay area, was selected to install the roof. Enterprise Roofing Service, Inc., located in Concord, California, has been serving the commercial/industrial roofing market for 36 years. The general contractor is D.P.R. Construction, headquartered in Redwood City, California; the roofing consultant is Architectural Roofing Designs, Inc. and the architects are Hallmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, Inc., out of San Francisco.
Enterprise Roofing Service, Inc., Architectural Roofing Designs, Inc. and H.O.K. worked closely together to come up with a design for the roof that would meet the Johns Manville 20-year guarantee requirements. Enterprise Roofing Service, Inc. applied a built-up roof with gravel surfacing to the main roof over structural concrete. Fesco® Board insulation was covered with DynaBase® base sheet. Three plies of GlasPly® Premier membrane were added and surfaced with gravel. DynaFlex® material was used on all flashing areas. The penthouse roof has metal decks with lightweight cellular concrete. On these, mechanically attached Ventsulation® felt was used. Approximately 5,900 lineal feet of walkpads were applied around the perimeters.
Kevin Fleming, vice president of operations for Enterprise Roofing Service, Inc. has worked with Johns Manville for a number of years and considers them the best in terms of their technical expertise. "Our JM representative, Casey Paulson, and their technical department are very familiar with the details in new construction," said Fleming. "We used the technical department to help us evaluate difficult flashing details of the perimeter walls and davit supports."
