Johns Manville Introduces New Roof Insulation Product

DuraBoard™ Suitable for APP and SBS Membranes

Phoenix, Arizona (2/8/1999) --- The Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group this week introduced a new, strong and durable roof insulation product that can be utilized in both SBS and APP roof system installations. In addition to its ability to be used in these roof systems, DuraBoard™ offers a number of other advantages.

DuraBoard is impact resistant, has high wind uplift ratings and is heat-weldable for SBS and APP membranes. It is less expensive and easier to install in these applications because they can be directly heat-welded to DuraBoard without an additional base sheet. With its weight- bearing strength and rigidity the one-inch DuraBoard can be used to span the wider rib openings of metal roof decks. And, it still has the advantage of a minimum recycled content of 25 percent.

"We thought it was very important to provide our customers with a competitively priced, high quality insulation product that could be used in both SBS and APP roof system installations," said Carole Kagiyama, Market Manager for roofing insulation products for Johns Manville. "This new formula has a higher density and a new proprietary coating that provides excellent fire resistance and a durable surface for heat-welded applications."

DuraBoard, which is available in ½ inch, inch and one-inch thicknesses, is the newest addition to the JM full line of high performance insulations for built-up and modified bitumen roofs. The complete line includes perlite, fiber glass and polyisocyanurate foam insulation products to meet every roofing insulation need.
