Denver, Colorado (10/25/2002) --- Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group announced today that polyisocyanurate manufacturing facility conversions to meet the new roofing insulation industry standards for blowing agents are almost complete. The company also said that it would open new polyiso plants in Nevada and Texas to provide more efficient service to customers.
Conversion is complete at the company's Canadian plant in Cornwall, ONT as well as JM's U.S. plants in Jacksonville, Fla.; Bremen, Ind.; and Hazleton, Pa. West Coast customers will be serviced from the company's facility in Kent, Wash. through the first quarter of 2003.
In the second quarter, the company is opening a new state-of-the art facility in Fernley, Nev. to provide more efficient service to West Coast customers. This facility has been designed for exclusive use of pentane blown foam. In addition, the company is opening a new facility in Sulphur Springs, Texas in late 2003, also producing exclusively with pentane blowing agents.
"We have been working very diligently to complete these conversions in a timely manner in order to meet our customers' needs," said Joe Smith, market manager. "Our customers are pleased with our smooth transition to the new, non-ozone depleting blowing agents." Smith added that the plant conversions represent a capital expenditure of approximately twenty million dollars, a significant investment in the roof insulation product line.
